I don't know what your policy is on promotion, or if you care if loads of people join in on the project - perhaps we like it discreet. I am a rather avid Twitter user myself, and believe I could harbour some genuine promotion if given the rites to control the Twitter.
If it's true that we would like some promotion, but we just haven't explored the Twitter side of things in great depth, why don't we use Twitter as a team? We could decide what links to present daily. I imagine we'd also respond to questions - and tell people that we're willing to answer questions - using the @ feature. I would also imagine we each have a coded hashtag to signify it's us who's talking in informal situations, i.e If I said "@JohnDoe yes, thank you for taking an interest. Anybody is allowed to join! #Jb" Jb would be my "alias".
By merely following and interacting, we can get a wealth of people supporting the WorldForge project. I've tried it with gaming clans before.
Hey, I created this account, so own it for the time being on behalf of the project. Historically since I joined I've tended to drive most of the promotion and publicity.
However I do think it's vital to keep the signal to noise ratio of our promotions very high. If we send out spam every day, people will stop following, just as I have stopped following accounts of other people and organisations who do the same.
I am quite happy however to announce things that are genuinely knew that way. For people who are interested, there are a number of ways to promote their work and WorldForge. For example Jobe if you want people to be able to find out about your recent musical contributions, I am quite happy to post an article on your name on the blog, which will automatically get linked from the homepage. I can then at your discretion tweet about it. Alternatively if you'd like to tweet about something related but posted elsewhere, you can mention @worldforge on your own twitter stream, or I will tweet something you send me. If this becomes more than I can handle, we'll find a technical solution which takes me out of the loop once we have assured ourselves the signal quality will stay high.
