I can load the client, create a toon and even log into the main server (amber). When I start to move Ember crashes and closes. One thing I notice is some video problems with the ground. Could this be due to my graphics card?
My specs: P4, 2gigs RAM, GMA950 video (don't laugh, it came with the computer) Ubuntu 10.10
Before you get logged into a server go down to the Bottom Left Window and enter "/set_level low" without the quotes and see if that helps any, it could be a shader issue caused by the foliage system.
It is quite likely the problem is the driver for your graphics card. Ember requires reasonably high end hardware with solid OpenGL drivers. What OS are you running on?
The Linux drivers for the GMA 950 are known to be bad (as is that whole chipset; even the DirectX versions are unstable). This results in crashes, far down in the driver layer. There's nothing neither Ember nor Ogre can do about it. Sorry.
(Ember doesn't really require high end hardware; a OpenGL 2.0 compatible card will do. It, along with Ogre, does however require solid OpenGL drivers, which unfortunately aren't always available for Linux.)
